2024 Rubaiyat Koshu Kamoshi Katsunuma Dry
Orange Wine · Dry · GI Yamanashi · 100% Kōshū · Vintage 2024

Short Description

Dry Japanese orange wine made from late-harvested Kōshū grapes from Katsunuma. Fermented on the skins, seeds, pulp, and juice with wild yeasts. Bright orange in color, complex, and characterized by delicate fruit, subtle spice, and pleasant tannins.

Origin & Style

For this wine, Marufuji uses late-harvested Kōshū grapes from vineyards managed by the winery. All parts of the grape are fermented together in stainless steel tanks with wild yeasts. The wine then matures in a combination of oak barrels, concrete tanks, and stainless steel tanks.

  • 100% Kōshū grapes from Katsunuma
  • Late harvest from vineyards managed by the winery
  • Maceration fermentation with skins and seeds by wild yeasts
  • Aged in oak barrels, concrete, and stainless steel tanks
  • Bright orange-pink color
  • GI Yamanashi, limited to 4,459 bottles

Aroma Profile

Varietal-typical and shaped by aging:

  • Subtle citrus notes
  • White peach
  • Pear
  • Ripe grape and skin aromas
  • Subtle barrel spice
  • Tart, tannin-driven notes

Palate: dry and complex with vibrant fruit, delicate spice, and pleasant tannins. The slightly tart finish gives the wine structure and makes it a versatile food companion.

Why we carry this wine

Marufuji has been producing wine in Katsunuma since 1890. The Kōshū Kamoshi combines this long history with a distinctive vinification using wild yeasts and three different aging vessels. The 2024 vintage, limited to 4,459 bottles, was awarded silver at the Japan Wine Competition 2026.
